A coastal urban landscape that blends native ecology, Mediterranean plantings, and refined outdoor living to enhance residents’ wellbeing in Cottesloe.
Situated between the Swan River and Indian Ocean, The Grove Residences required a landscape that captured the calm elegance of Cottesloe while complementing the development’s refined urban design. Deep Green was engaged to deliver the full landscape construction, creating layered outdoor spaces that promote connection, wellbeing, and a strong sense of place.
The planting strategy draws on local coastal and inland ecologies, combining sculptural native species, resilient Mediterranean plants, and carefully curated exotics to provide texture, movement, and seasonal interest. Mature trees, including retained site specimens, offer instant canopy and dappled light, while densely planted understorey gardens contribute to microclimate cooling and privacy for residents.
Spatial planning focused on fluid transitions between public, semi-private, and private zones. Landscaped terraces, communal courtyards, and shaded walkways soften the architecture, encourage outdoor living, and maintain visual and physical connections to the Swan River, Norfolk Pines, and Indian Ocean.
Sustainability was embedded through water-sensitive urban design, low-maintenance planting, and efficient irrigation systems. Advanced specimens were carefully installed to ensure long-term health and structural growth, and soil mediums were recycled where possible to reduce environmental impact.
The Deep Green construction team ensured seamless integration of hard and softscape elements across multi-level podiums, terraces, and communal zones. Precision detailing, high-quality materials, and horticultural expertise delivered a cohesive and resilient landscape that enhances both resident experience and the architectural identity of the development.
