Brightwater Huntington’s Campus
A therapeutic and accessible landscape that supports residents living with Huntington’s Disease through nature, sensory engagement, and community connection.
The Brightwater Huntington’s Campus in Piara Waters was purpose-built to provide Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) for individuals living with Huntington’s Disease. Deep Green Landscaping was engaged to construct the landscape, bringing to life a vision centred on biophilic design, accessibility, and therapeutic outdoor spaces.
The campus landscape incorporates five communal sensory gardens and seven themed walkways, designed to stimulate the senses and encourage engagement. Plantings include tactile, scented, edible, and wildlife-attracting species, complemented by shaded seating, sound sculptures, and raised planters. Accessible pathways and activity areas allow all residents to participate fully, supporting autonomy, dignity, and social connection.
Sustainability and long-term performance were central to the project. Native and seasonally resilient plants, along with durable, environmentally-conscious materials, were selected to create vibrant, low-maintenance gardens. Deep Green’s careful implementation ensured the design was executed with precision, supporting the therapeutic intent while delivering a visually and emotionally enriching environment.
Developed collaboratively with Brightwater Care Group, KPA Architects, Dale Alcock Projects, and Plan E Landscape Architects, the campus landscape transforms the residential setting into an interactive, supportive, and safe outdoor environment. Residents, families, and staff now enjoy spaces that promote physical activity, sensory engagement, and emotional wellbeing, aligning with the highest standards in therapeutic landscape design Perth.
